Chevrolet to Add Blazer EV, Equinox EV SUVs to Lineup in 2023
Currently, we only have images of the Equinox EV, which shows a distinct, sort of lifted hatchback exterior styling that has become commonplace among electric SUVs. Interior drawings show a look similar to the Silverado EV, with a digital gauge cluster and large touchscreen display above physical climate controls. The Blazer EV will likely be larger than the Equinox EV, akin to the current gas equivalents, but it’s otherwise unclear what it will look like. What does seem likely is that, like the Silverado EV, the two SUVs will share a name but not a platform or styling with their internal-combustion counterparts.
According to Chevrolet, the Equinox EV will be released in fleet and consumer versions, with LT and RS variants among the available trims. Power will come from GM’s Ultium platform, but actual specs haven’t yet been revealed. The Silverado EV has an estimated maximum of 400 miles of range using the Ultium platform, while the existing Bolt EV and Bolt EUV have 259 and 247 miles of range, respectively, using Chevrolet’s older battery technology; a 300- or even 400-mile-plus range for either or both SUVs doesn’t seem out of the question depending on battery pack size and vehicle weight, but we’ll have to wait and see.

The Blazer EV will go on sale first in the spring of 2023, with the Equinox EV to follow that fall. Chevrolet says the Equinox EV should have a starting price of right around $30,000. Expect the Blazer EV to be somewhat more expensive. While the big news for Chevrolet at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show was the reveal of the all-electric Silverado EV pickup truck, the Bow-Tie brand also announced two additional electric vehicles would be joining the Silverado EV in showrooms in 2023: the Blazer EV and Equinox EV SUVs.
